MDA SBIR Phase I Completed
January 2002 - MTECH has successfully completed Phase I of a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant funded by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The project involves the development of cryogenic power electronics components, and will culminate in the fabrication and testing of cryogenic power inverters.

RF Background Noise Measurement
October 2001 - MTECH has completed work for a medical equipment manufacturing company. MTECH's role was to assist the company in RF background noise measurements, which were used for site planning and equipment evaluation.

RF Hardware for MRI Applications
May 2001 - MTECH has completed work for a medical equipment firm, aiding the firm by developing techniques, magnet concepts, and RF hardware for advanced MRI devices.

MDA SBIR Awarded to MTECH
April 2001 - MTECH has been awarded its first Small Business Innovative Research grant by the Department of Defense's Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Phase I will involve the development of cryogenic power components. In Phase II, MTECH plans to build and test cryogenic power inverters using the devices developed in Phase I.

MTECH is Open for Business
January 2001 - MTECH Laboratories opened its doors on this date in order to heavily engage in the research and development of cryogenic power and energy conversion systems. MTECH was founded by Dr. Michael J. Hennessy, who joined forces with Dr. Otward Mueller, president of Low Temperature Electronics (LTE), in this collaborative venture. Drs. Mueller and Hennessy have pioneered the field of Cryogenic Power Electronics, or CryoPower. Dr. Mueller's work in the field began in the mid-1980's, and he has since been called the "Father of Cryopower". Dr. Hennessy has spent his career working on superconducting Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems and magnetic levitation systems, as well as low-power cryogenic electronics.
